April fool’s jokes

毎年4月1日にはエイプリルフールジョークが飛び交っている。 まだ留学生活を始めたばかりのYukiにいっぱい食わそうと、Mariaが待ち構えていた。

Maria: Hi, Yuki. I have a message for you. Mr. Lion called. He would like to talk to you. You can reach him at this telephone number.

Yuki: Mr. Lion? His name is not familiar to me. But, I will call him right now.

(Yuki on the phone)

Yuki: Hello. May I speak to Mr. Lion?

Man: OK. I will see if he is available.

(A man left to get Mr. Lion and came back in few seconds)

Man: I am sorry, but he is asleep. Can you call him again? Thank you for calling the New York Zoo!

Yuki: Maria! You got me. That was a good April fool’s joke! But, did you know it’s against the law to make April fool’s Jokes in America? Mr. George W. Bush made it official because it causes so much confusion throughout the country.

Maria: Gee, I didn’t know. I should be more careful.
