トモミのペットはロボット犬 ベティーの家は生き物だらけ 北米で始めて感謝祭を行ったのはアメリカか、カナダか? Tomomi: Hi, Betty! I see you bought some cat food today. Betty: Yes. I have three very hungry cats waiting at home. Tomomi: Three cats? That is a lot! Betty: There is more! I also have two dogs, fish and a horse. I keep the horse at a local ranch. Tomomi: It sounds as though you live in a zoo. Is it normal for people in North America to have so many pets? Betty: I guess I have more than most other people do. Yet there are many North Americans who have multiple pets. Did you have any house pets in Japan? Tomomi: I lived in an apartment in a city where space was very limited, so it was hard to keep pets. Many of my friends who had pets had small ones, like fish, cats, or small dogs. Instead of a live animal, I had a robotic pet. Betty: Your pet was a robot? What kind of animal was it? Tomomi: A dog. It was well behaved, it didn't leave any messes to be cleaned, and I never had to buy it food. Betty: Did it act like a real dog? Tomomi: It was programmed to display all the mannerisms of a real dog, and it even wagged its tail! Although it could not replace the real thing, it fits in nicely with the lifestyle of so many people who live in crowded cities. I was even able to bring it to Vancouver with me in a suitcase! Betty: Now that you live in North America, where there is more space, would you get a real animal companion? Tomomi: Definitely! What is the most common house pet in North America? Betty: As in Japan, cats and dogs are the most common. Does your apartment allow pets? Tomomi: Yes. Now I can finally get a kitten or a puppy to live with me in the city. Although, I hope my robotic dog does not mind the extra companion!
